Murmuration and life

Murmuration, a word I have heard mention in the past but it piques my interest as I listen to the radio. A word used to describe a flock of birds especially starlings swooping and diving together in formation and apparently a phenomenon seen at this time of the year. I must keep an eye out for this.

I wonder what it must be like to be a bird. To feel that exhilarating feeling of freedom as you soar through the skies. The feeling of the cold air as it brushes your face. The birds eye view of the expanse in front of you. Maybe it is nothing special to them as they do this everyday. It could be just another mundane task. Surely they wouldn’t be doing this swooping and diving if they didn’t enjoy doing it. Do they feel the same emotions as we do? If they can feel terror then surely they can feel enjoyment as well.

I’m half lost in thoughts as I go through my morning chores. I then remember the curious smile that Lakshmi gives me when she catches me lost in my thoughts. She waits till I see her and then her smile turns into a wide cheeky grin. It reminds me that I’m more than happy being on the ground and that I don’t need the skies to get that exhilarating feeling.
