Birds in Antigua

I decided to look up the birds I’ve been seeing here, which are native to Antigua. The friendliest is the bananaquit or the sugar birds as they are called due to it’s penchant for sugary things. I didn’t know this when I decided to leave a bit of my leftover sugary treat for it yesterday. It devoured it and then posed for my photos. The bird has come to visit me again this morning to say hello.

Then there is the Antillean crested hummingbird which fleets around sucking the honey from the flowers. The common ground doves and the brown impressive looking pelicans swooping the skies. There is the glossy black bird or the Carib grackle. There are lots more, but these are the ones I have noticed and identified so far, because of their distinctive characteristics.
